Over the course of my 17 years of experience as a psychotherapist, clients have most consistently valued my relational approach to therapy.  Working relationally means creating a new and unique therapy experience for every client I work with.

If you decide to work with me, here are a few things you can count on: 

  • I will build a genuine relationship with you, and I will welcome you to express your deepest, most vulnerable thoughts and feelings without judgment;

  • You will be empowered to set our agenda in each session, based on what is most alive for you;

  • Your unique needs will be center stage, where we can explore both ways they’ve been missed and ways you can better get them met now;

  • I will actively encourage you to reflect on the impact of our relationship as we work together so that you can notice ways in which our relationship might echo significant patterns in other relationships in your life;

  • I offer close attunement and support, but also challenge you to look at the things that are scary or difficult for you to acknowledge; it is only in confronting our shadows that we can grow into the light.

 

As an individual depth therapist, my areas of specialization include: 

  • Lifelong patterns of behavior that are not serving you but seem to stick around, despite your best efforts to change;

  • Childhood wounds and negative self-judgments that stem from early life experiences;

  • Difficulty finding and maintaining satisfying and healthy relationships; 

  • Problems related to masculinity and what it means to be a man (or to grow up male-bodied);

  • Difficulty trusting your instincts and knowing what you genuinely feel.

  • Exploring the complex experiences and insights that emerge from psychedelic experiences and learning how to integrate them into your daily life.

Fees and Insurance

Although I do not take insurance as an in-network provider, I am able to provide a monthly superbill, which contains the information needed to submit an out-of-network claim with your insurance company. Most insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage; you will need to check with your individual plan to find out how much they are able to cover.

If you’re ready to get started, reach out and let me know a little about yourself on my Contact Me page. I offer a 15-minute phone or Zoom consultation free of charge so we have a chance to chat, ask each other some questions, and get a first impression of whether we’d be a good fit for working together. If by the end of the call, you’d like to proceed and I feel I may be able to help you, we will set up an initial session.

Though it can vary from person to person, it generally takes anywhere from one to four sessions to develop your goals, to assess how we fit, and decide whether to make a longer-term commitment to working together. After this point, I tend to work with people for anywhere from one to multiple years, depending on how far and deep you want to go.

At this time, I am only taking new clients who would like to meet weekly in person.

How often will we meet?

While the answer can vary based on individual needs, I generally work with most people on a once-per-week basis. I am willing to work more intensively, but I do not work with people less frequently than once per week, as it tends to lack the necessary momentum for depth-oriented work.
